At the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus (GLLC) Executive Committee meeting in February 2024, leadership approved a Resolution to Enhance Indigenous Participation in Caucus activities. The resolution, first raised at the 2023 Annual Meeting by members of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke, was revised and discussed at several meetings before being voted on.
It outlines the GLLC’s commitment to developing a formal role in the Caucus for Indigenous leaders. To operationalize this resolution, the GLLC Executive Committee has formed the Indigenous Engagement Committee, which will lead the efforts as it seeks input from Indigenous nations around the basin.
The GLLC is looking for members to serve on this new Indigenous Engagement Committee. Sign-up is also open for the Nominations Committee and the Rules Committee.
