Harbor Maintenance and Funding in the Great Lakes Region

The third installment of the Great Lakes Legislative Caucus’s “Great Lakes, Great Webinars” in 2015 focused on harbor maintenance and funding. Mike O’Bryan of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers provided an overview of the federal government’s roles and responsibilities for navigation operations and maintenance, as well as report on activities planned for the Great Lakes region in FY16. In addition, attendees heard from Chuck May of the Great Lakes Small Harbors Coalition about the region’s 112 federally authorized recreational harbors and the challenges they face in maintaining safe navigational access.
