Data center development is increasing rapidly across the U.S. with implications for economic development as well as infrastructure strain and sustainability. This briefing, hosted by Great Lakes Legislative Caucus, The Council of State Governments, and the AAAS Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues, will cover the economics of data centers including revenue generation, job creation, and other economic development factors. We will explore how data centers impact energy and water infrastructure planning, and how such considerations differ across regions of the U.S.. Experts will discuss models for building cross-sector collaborations to ensure responsible data center growth.
